India will partner with Guyana in oil and gas, other sectors

India will join Guyana as a partner in various sectors including oil and gas, according to its High Commissioner here, Dr. K.J. Srinivasa.

In a statement to mark Guyana’s 56th anniversary of Independence being observed today, Srinivasa said: “The fast paced Guyanese development and progress will have India joining as its valuable partner in various sectors including education, agriculture, (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), healthcare, infrastructure, oil and gas, etc”.

He added that the  Government of India will support Guyana in all possible ways to assist in its continued growth.

“We continue to encourage Indian companies to invest in Guyana and work actively with Guyanese companies, especially in technology support and knowledge sharing. India is very proud to offer training and capacity building in civilian, defence, security, media and other sectors for nation building”, he added. 

The High Commissioner said that he wanted to reiterate that the Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to ensure a special partnership with countries like Guyana.
