The trial of Phillip Suffrien who is accused of the 2017 murders of 89-year-old Constance Fraser and 77-year-old Phyllis Caesar, is set to commence next Wednesday—June 1st—at the High Court in Demerara.
The jury hearing the case was empaneled yesterday morning before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow who will be presiding over the trial.
The indictment on which Suffrien was arraigned is that he murdered the two elderly women between October 2nd and October 3rd, 2017, at their Lot 243 South Road and Albert Street, Georgetown residence.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to the capital charges.
The prosecution will be calling over a dozen witnesses to the stand.
Suffrien is being represented by defence attorney Madan Kissoon, while the State is being represented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave, Latifah Elliot and Taneisha Saygon.
