Following a seizure, a businessman collapsed and subsequently died at a gas station on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 66-year-old Hamid Sharriff, of Lot 113 Block ‘XX’, Non Pareil, ECD.
Hamid had a seizure at the Rubis Gas station on the Rupert Craig Highway, ECD at about 13:40 hrs on Thursday.
A Guyana Police Force statement said that the businessman and his wife left their home in their vehicle, which was being driven by the deceased.
Upon arrival at the gas station, Sharriff went to one of the gas pumps and began to refuel his vehicle but experienced a seizure and subsequently became motionless.
According to the police, the EMT ambulance service was summoned and was immediately dispatched to the scene where they pronounced Sharriff dead at about 14:00hrs.
No marks of violence were seen on the man’s body.
The police said Hamid had a history of high cholesterol and heart conditions.
His body is currently at the Jerrick’s Funeral Home where it awaits a post mortem examination.
