The decomposing body of a 41-year-old teacher was found at her home at Crane, West Coast Demerara on Friday afternoon and the police have launched a search for her husband in connection with her death.
The dead woman is Omega Ault, of Crane Public Road, West Coast Demerara, who was not seen by family members for two weeks.
The Guyana Police Force last night issued a wanted bulletin for her husband, Clarence Farley, called ‘Junior,’ 41, of 1A ‘X’ New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, and 291 Section ‘A’ Block ‘Y’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara. He is suspected to have murdered the woman sometime between May 14 and yesterday.
In a statement issued last night, the police said the woman’s body was discovered by her brother, Kevin Ault, 37.
The man reported to the ranks at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station that he had been calling his sister but was not getting through to her for the past two weeks.
As a result, Kevin Ault said he then went to his sister’s address at Crane and after calling and getting no response, he pushed open the front door to the house and was met by an odour.
He then went into the front room of the house and saw the decomposing body of his sister lying motionless.
The police at the Vreed-en-Hoop station were then alerted.
The woman’s body was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where it was officially pronounced dead on arrival, after which it was taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home to await a post-mortem examination.
According to the police, their enquiries revealed that the now deceased woman was living with Farley and their three-year-old son at the address but they had been encountering marital problems.
The police noted that about four days ago Farley took the three-year-old boy to the sister of the deceased, Tracy Ault, who resides in Diamond, on the East Bank, and left the child with her. He reportedly told the woman that he was “going into the backdam.” He has not been seen since.
