Candidate Master Wendell Meusa maintains his lead in the Open division despite losing to Robert Neto, while Nellisha Johnson, Sasha Shariff, and Pooja Lam, are currently tied atop the Women’s divisional standings in the National Chess Championships.
Neto defeated Meusa in the sixth round of the nine stanza tournament to move onto 3.5 points. Meusa remained in the pole position heading into the seventh round on 5 points. Taffin Khan is in close pursuit of the leader on 4.5 points, while Frankie Farley, Ethan Lee, and Anthony Drayton, sit on 4, 4, and 3.5 points respectively.
