The fourth-round clash between Guyana Harpy Eagles and Jamaica Scorpions ended in a draw yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago.
Guyana, with a 188-run lead heading into the final day declared on 584 for seven without facing a ball and Scorpions closed on 271 for six after 80 overs.
The flat pitch offered little to the bowlers as John Campbell looked set for a triple-figure score but was trapped leg before wicket to Veerasammy Permaul while on 98.
Campbell who faced 155 balls and struck 11 fours along with one six, added 105 for the opening stand with Leroy Lugg who got up to his maiden first class half century but was bowled by Permaul for 67.
Lugg clubbed six sixes and five fours during his 72-ball sprint.
Jermaine Blackwood joined Campbell at the crease and forged a 64-run union for the second wicket as he got up to 28 from 58 balls before chipping down the pitch and holding out to Keemo Paul at mid-on off of Gudakesh Motie.
Paul Palmer and Alwyn Williams both reached 26 while Derval Green and Aldane Thomas held on for the draw with respective scores of 10 and four not out. Permaul ended with 3-61 while Motie returned 2-73.
In the other match of the round, Leeward Islands Hurricanes defeated Windward Islands Volcanoes by 228 runs.
Resuming on 127 for three and needing a further 286 runs for victory, Volcanoes could only muster 184 in 69.3 overs. Rahkeem Cornwall led the bowling for Hurricanes with 6-45 while Daniel Doram bagged 3-13.
Kavem Hodge converted his overnight score of 25 to 43 before he was given out leg before wicket to Cornwall.
Based on Cricket West Indies’ website, Hurricanes have moved to the top of the table with 64.4 points, two points ahead of reigning champions, Barbados Pride. Harpy Eagles have moved to third with 50.4 points while Trinidad and Tobago slipped to fourth with 46 points. Scorpions continue to languish at the bottom with 36.6 points and Volcanoes complete the table with 18.6 points.
The final round will see Pride coming up against Volcanoes, Red Force facing Harpy Eagles, and Scorpions tackling Hurricanes.
