Senior Magistrate Leron Daly has been assigned to preside over the trial of former Finance Minister Winston Jordan on a charge of misconduct in public office.
The proceedings are now scheduled to start on August 29, 2022.
In April, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan recused herself from hearing the proceedings and the matter was transferred to Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus. However, Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus also recused herself.
Jordan, who was the Minister of Finance during the term of the APNU+AFC coalition government, was charged with misconduct in public office last December. The charge stems from the sale of a prime piece of state-owned property to BK Marine Inc. at below market value.
It states that the property, Mudlots 1 & 2, F of Mudlot 3, A, B & D, situated at North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, was valued at $5 billion but was sold for $20 million.
He has been released on $3 million bail.
