We thank this literary icon for giving us so much of value

Dear Editor,

At age 73, I from to time reflect on my contributions to Guyanese Literature from 1971 to 2018. I throw my mind back to the pleasure I had in reading quality literature and be numbered as one who made a contribution to our local bookshelf in my own limited mode,

I have never met George Lamming face to face but I recall the impact his very name had on our lives then as young writers. His name inspired us to read not only his work but the work of men such as Jan Carew, Kamau Brathwaite, Derek Walcott and the many too numerous to list.

We have suffered a loss by his departure from this life. His work remains and as we pay tribute to him we thank this literary icon for giving us so much of value.

Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
