East Coast U17 cricket team were routed for 72 in the Demerara Cricket Board Inter-Association tournament at La Bonne Intention Cricket Ground Saturday as Georgetown U-17s romped to an eight-wicket win.
Sent in after losing the toss, East Coast toiled for 41.3 of their allotted 45 overs while Georgetown needed just 23.5 overs to reach their revised target of 74.
For East Coast, Vickash Wilkinson top scored with 16 from 70 balls while Romeo Deonarain made 10 from 54 balls.
No other batsman reached double figures although extras tallied 19.
Riyad Latif took 5-10 while Myheim Khan and Jayden Dowlin each took 2-12.
Transport Sports Club and Georgetown U17 captain, Alvin Mohabir, then steered Georgetown over the line with 33 not out. His 41-ball innings included two fours and a six.
Mohabir, who was called to trials for the West Indies U19s last year, was supported by Jadon Campbell who made 25 from 63 balls before being trapped leg before wicket by Alex Datterdeen (1-24). Jeremiah Hohenkirk was the other batsman dismissed for a 32-ball nine, bowled by Hemraj Harripersaud (1-7).
