Georgetown’s Director of Solid Waste Walter Narine has announced that Sand-Dip Disposal Services, which is responsible for garbage collection in several communities, has suspended its contract with the municipality.
In a Facebook post, Narine said that the contract suspension was “due to circumstances beyond the control” of the company but did not go into details.
SanDip was contracted by the Municipality to remove household garbage in Group 1 (Campbellville Housing Scheme and section L-M Campbellville, Belvoir Court, Prashad Nagar, Bel Air Promenade, New Haven, Bel-Air village, Blygezeight, North Sophia, Liliendaal, Turkeyen, Atlantic Ville, Pattensen, University Gardens and Cummings Lodge).
In his post, Narine also stated that the municipality has engaged C & S Disposal and Trucking to undertake the garbage collection in the areas serviced by SanDip. He noted that every effort is being made to ensure collection in these communities.
SanDip had recently been experiencing issues with its fleet of vehicles.
