Cricket West Indies’ President XI fended off the Bangladesh bowlers on the second day of their warm up contest, trailing the visitors by 109 runs with one day to go at Coolidge Ground, Antigua.
At the close of play the President’s XI, led by half centuries from openers Jeremy Solozano and Tagenarine Chanderpul had reached 201-4 after 66 overs.
Earlier, resuming on 274 for six, Bangladesh declared on 310 for seven after 97 overs.
Tamim Iqbal, added 22 to his overnight score, finishing unbeaten on 162 runs from 287 balls. The left hander smacked 21 fours and one six.
Nurul Hasan made 35 from 59 balls while Mosaddek Hossain chipped in with 19.
The President’s XI openers Solozano and Chanderpaul, laid a solid foundation adding 109 for the first wicket.
Solozano frustrated the Bangladesh bowlers and will head into today’s final day unbeaten on 83 from 174 balls which featured 10 boundaries.
Chanderpaul struck eight fours and a six on his way to 59 from 117 balls before being bowled by Rahman Raja.
Chanderpaul’s countryman, Tevin Imlach looked good as he carved five boundaries before being trapped leg before wicket to Ebadat Hossain for a hard-fought 49-ball 27.
Hossain also removed Alick Athanaze and Roston Chase to end with 3-51.
Yannic Cariah is at the crease on 21 not out from 47 balls and is currently in an unbroken partnership of 34 with Solozano. The match resumes today at 10.00 hours.
