Tangling with the Constitution

Dear Editor,

Here we go again, tangling with the Constitution.  Is it for the Opposition Leader (OL) to submit names to the Presi-dent to agree with or is it for the President to engage the OL in seeking consensus on his (President’s) nominees for the top judicial appointments? There are strands of similarity as in another case where the then president, from his interpretation, arrogated onto himself the right to submit names to the then OL for the position of GECOM chair. Oh, how we tangle with the Constitution…

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
