Guyana youth cricketers, Mavindra Dindyal and Matthew Nandu were in full swing Saturday during the Brampton-Etobicoke and District Cricket League in Canada as Kaiteur defeated Ontario Cricket Academy by 38 runs.
Kaiteur, after being asked to bat, posted 239 all out from their allotted 48 overs before bowling out Ontario for 201 in 45 overs at Laurel Creek Park.
Dindyal, who is playing in his first match in Canada, showed his class as he piled up 91 from 93 balls. His innings featured six fours and one six.
He was supported West Indies Under-19 World Cup player Nandu, who stroked four boundaries during his 99-ball 69.
Both batsmen were however dismissed by Pieter Pretorius who ended with 5-28.
Pretorius also accounted for Arjuna Sukhu who made 32 from 33 balls with three boundaries. No other batsman reached double figures.
Gary Grewal supported with 3-44 while Harrison Ragulan took 2-34.
Ontario’s chase was curtailed by Miguel Nandu who captured 4-25 supported by Marcel Nandu and Dindyal with two wickets each.
Jakshu Hora top scored with 37 from 49 balls. Contributions also came from Nikhil Chawla (30), Ragulan (27), Sahil Badin (24) and Tarun Dhingra (19).
Meanwhile yesterday at the same venue, Kaiteur defeated Phoenix B by five wickets. Phoenix B won the toss and opted to bat, posting 149 all out from 39.1 overs. Kaiteur, in reply reached 151 for five in 39.5 overs.
Phoenix B’s batting centered around Amit Thakur who made 33 and Jagdeep Bains with 25. Cameos also came from Sahab Singh (23) and Gurkirat Singh (18).
Theron Ramlal was the pick of the Kaiteur bowlers with 3-34 while Matthew and Miguel Nandu took two wickets each.
Matthew Nandu returned with bat in hand to stroke 51 from 63 balls. His innings was highlighted by three boundaries. Ramlal made 36 not out and Roy Singh and Marcus Nandu 21 and 14 respectively.
