A 49-year-old Lodge, Georgetown resident was taken into custody yesterday following the discovery of 400 ecstasy pills in his motor vehicle.
In a press release issued last night, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said the motor vehicle of Christopher Dexter Garraway of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown was intercepted during a Joint Services operation at #79, Corriverton, Berbice.
The operation was carried out by CANU ranks and Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) enforcement officers.
The agency said a search was carried out on Garraway’s vehicle during which four parcels of pinkish pills suspected to be ecstasy were discovered.
Garraway was escorted to CANU Headquarters where the suspected narcotics tested positive for ecstasy.
The pills weighed a total of 150 grammes with a street value of $600,000, CANU said.
