Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has risen once again.
The Health Ministry on Friday confirmed that a 79-year-old man of Region Six, East-Berbice Coren-tyne, succumbed on Wed-nesday in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Liliendaal. The man was said to have been partially vaccinated against the virus.
With his death, the official number of COVID deaths recorded to date here increased to 1,245.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health’s updated COVID-19 dashboard yesterday also confirmed that 85 new COVID-19 cases had been recorded after 1,126 tests were conducted.
Region One recorded 2 of the new cases, Region Two recorded 12 cases, Region Three recorded 10, Region Four recorded 41, Region Six recorded 16 and Region Seven recorded 4.
The dashboard also showed that there were two persons in the ICU at Liliendaal, while 20 were in institutional isolation and 942 in home isolation.
