A farmer died on Friday morning after being struck by a minibus at Charity.
Choomanlall (only name), also known as Cyril, of David James Scheme, Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two, was hit around 10:00 hrs.
He was 79.
The driver is currently in police custody.
According to one of Choomanlall’s granddaughters, the family received a call around 10:10 hrs informing them that the man was involved in an accident.
The relative related that the deceased would usually go to Charity to sell his vegetables after which he would purchase groceries and then return home.
“He had bruises to his head and black and blue,” said a granddaughter, who described Choomanlall as a loving person.
The granddaughter said that he was rushed to the Oscar Joseph hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was a father of five.
