President Irfaan Ali today conducted an impromptu visit to South Ruimveldt in Georgetown where he inspected the infrastructure of the area and consulted with residents on needed improvements.

A release from his office said that the President walked about the community, inspecting drains, roads and the community centre ground while listening to the concerns raised.

He then committed to sending in a technical team to do a follow-up exercise, the release said.

During his visit, the President walked around Festival City where he inspected the conditions of the roads, drains and the community centre ground.

The release added that the President made a commitment, on the spot, to not only rehabilitate the ground but also repair the building. This will be done in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.

The President was joined by the Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal; CEO of the Central Housing and Planning Authority, Sherwyn Greaves and other government representatives.
