Dear Editor,
My stomach churned as I looked at the broadcast of the Enmore Martyrs commemoration activity on June 16, 2022 and saw President Ali attacking the GAWU President, and in my mind, all GAWU members. While I understand the President may not agree with the GAWU and that’s his right, his attempt to belittle the GAWU was uncalled for. It appeared that the President maybe was highly incensed over the remarks, but rather than tactfully and skillfully address it in a nimble manner, his attempt came across as juvenile and childish. This was the second similar outburst by the President in the last days as I read a news report about his response to a question posed to him during his outreach to Region Seven. I urge you, Mr. President, to be more thick-skinned. It comes with the territory. It does not shine a good light on you when you go around seeking to denounce people rather than providing constructive responses.
Sincerely,
Liebert Alleyne
