We (here in Barbados) are definitely seeing the effects of the ongoing disruption to supply chains that occurred due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and now the war in Ukraine. What’s happening where you are? One of the shelves which the scarcity is evident is the one that stocks legumes (dried peas, beans, pulses). Yellow split peas, black eye peas and dried pigeon peas are absent. We can also see that certain familiar brands are not stocked. However, one of the beans we see a lot of is black beans.
There are certain peas and beans that we prefer to cook with and use to make specific dishes, but if it is one thing we are to learn, it is that we must adapt. Adapting is not new to us; our history is replete with evidence of such. Perhaps we have gotten so accustomed to having certain things readily available to us that we have become stuck in our ways.
