Entertainment business Seishonen Guyana is fervently working on its ‘Summer Festival’, slated for July 24 at Bookland Gardens and featuring art, cosplay, Maid Cafe and merchandise, providing the perfect opportunity for patrons to dress as their favourite anime or marvel comic character.
Inspired by street festivals around the world, the event will provide the avenue for artists and small to medium-sized businesses.
Maid Cafe is a new concept exclusive to Seishonen Guyana which follows that of a cosplay anime restaurant particular to Japan. At these cafés, waitresses dressed in maid costumes serve platters of enticing foods, take photos and/or play games with the patrons. The ‘Summer Festival’ Maid Cafe will have Asian inspired dishes like Mochi, dumplings and Korean juices.
CEO of Seishonen Guyana Rafaela Oviedo said it was her hope to have an innovative business surrounding a realm of events by which avenues for youths would be provided so they could express their creative interests and showcase commerce and talent.
As such, when the concept for the business came to her around mid-last year, Rafaela reached out to her friend Juliana Lopes who is now the Marketing Manager, to get the ball rolling. Making up the rest of the Seishonen Guyana team are Deral King (Business Coordinator), Sarita Sattrohan (Treasurer), Kezyah Bhola (Sponsorship Coordinator) and Chris Bissessar (Creative Coordinator).
She said that Seishonen is a Japanese word which means ‘youth’, and so far events have provided avenues for and featured interests such as anime, art, cosplay, K-pop and other music as well as other cultural activities. The last event was a Mini Expo at Giftland Mall on April 23.
Juliana, who also spoke with The Scene acknowledged the sponsors of the upcoming event: Kabisa, MADE, Rakiyomu Books, Heart Through Art, and Dahlia L’artista.
Tickets for the festival cost $3,000 and can be purchased at the Sach Store at 161 Waterloo Street and Dahlia L’artista at 62 D’Urban Street Lodge.
Artists and small or medium sized business owners interested in having booths or displays can contact Seishonen Guyana at 613-3405/698-5806 (for businesses) and 611-7833 for artists.
