The trial of Mark Royden Williams for the 2008 shooting death of Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank Ivor Williams is set to commence next Monday—June 27th—at the High Court in Demerara.
The 12-member jury which will be hearing the case was empaneled before Justice Sandil Kissoon yesterday morning.
The capital indictment against Williams called “Smallie” is that he murdered the GDF rank on January 23rd, of 2008.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Kissoon has set next Monday for commencement of the trial.
Williams is being represented by defence attorney Nigel Hughes.
The prosecution’s case will be led by Senior State Counsel Lisa Cave, who will be calling just over a dozen witnesses.
