On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers conducted an operation at Sandvoort, West Canje, Berbice, where they intercepted two males.
One of the individuals had a bulky salt-bag in his possession. A subsequent search of the bag revealed suspected cannabis.
Kevon Sandy, 20, of Republic Drive, West Canje, Berbice, and Prince Todd, 20, of Sandvoort, West Canje, Berbice, were arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters, along with the suspected narcotics. Three parcels amounted to 5.33 kg, with a street value of approximately $1.6 million.
Investigations are ongoing.
