The National Track and Field Centre will be a hive of activity over the next three days as the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) hosts its flagship National Senior Championship.
Action today starts at 18:00 hrs while athletes are scheduled to get into the blocks from 10:00 hrs tomorrow and Sunday.
Admission is listed at $500 daily.
The annual fixture will see the cream of the nation’s athletes in fierce competition as much is on the line.
Bragging rights, medals, cash incentives and a chance to represent the 592 at the World Championships will all be up for grabs.
With the World Athletics Championships 2022 starting on July 15 at Eugene in Oregon, USA, the upcoming weeks promise a lot of excitement in track and field.

President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson stated that he expects a huge turnout and a high-calibre weekend of races, throws and jumps.
A look at the meet’s programme yesterday showed that today will be highlighted by the javelin finals and the 5000m finals. Tomorrow’s highlights will feature the women’s and men’s high jump, women’s shot put, women’s 400m hurdles and the blue riband 100 finals for men and women. Sunday’s highlights will be the men’s long jump, the 800m finals for men and women and the 200m finals.
Usual suspects like Emanuel Archibald, Keliza Smith, Daniel Williams, Natricia and Natrena Hooper, Chantoba Bright, Leslain Baird and others are scheduled to do battle on the track and in the field.
