Town Style – Arts & Flavours, billed for today and tomorrow, is the second edition of a three- part series of market expositions organised by the Almond Tree Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd (proposed) for 2022.
The first was held on Easter Monday at Isika-Blake on the East Bank Essequibo and the third is scheduled to be held in neighbouring Suriname early in November.
Town Style – Arts & Flavours will be held at Almond Tree Farmers Markets, 229 Lance Gibbs Street, Georgetown from 7 am to 3 pm.
The Almond Tree brand seeks to provide a platform for the natural, the organic and the creative. Deeply inspired by the philosophy of sustainability and endeavouring to create a new relationship with nature, Almond Tree expositions encourage reusing, recycling and repurposing. Patrons are strongly urged to take along their own shopping bags when attending Almond Tree market events, instead of the environmentally irritating and unfriendly plastic bags.
Almond Tree expositions also attach priority to items that are produced by the vendors themselves. This is a way of restoring the old link between the maker and the buyer; the producer and the consumer, where pride in one’s creation becomes transmitted to the appreciative customer.
Patrons attending today and tomorrow can therefore expect to be treated to a variety of natural or nature-based remedies, cures, spices, ointments and unguents. Those with an eye for the decorative will be spoiled for choice by the artistic arrangements on sale.
The organisers have been careful to avoid too much product repetition, giving the customers the feeling that their purchased item is close to, if not totally, unique.
In 2020 the Almond Tree team launched its brand of farmers’ markets to a savvy group of consumers. Since then Almond Tree has been receiving numerous requests to organise another round of specialty markets.
“We are happy to respond to those faithful consumers and we commend Arts & Flavours as our latest edition in market exposition that cultivates a different approach to the environment and a more caring relationship between producer and buyer,” the organisers said.
