The Ministry of Health on Saturday reported that two more persons have succumbed after being infected with the novel coronavirus.
The two fatalities were identified by a ministry statement as a 65-year-old male of Region Two, and a 64-year-old female of Region Three, who both died on June 22. The vaccination status of both was unknown.
With the latest deaths, Guyana’s official death toll from the virus rose to 1,251.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s updated COVID-19 dashboard showed that 111 new cases were recorded from 861 COVID-19 tests.
Region One recorded 4 of the new cases, Region Two 14, Region Three 8, Region Four 59, Region Six 25 and Region Ten 1.
In addition, the dashboard also showed that there were three persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 28 were in institutional isolation and 943 in home isolation.
