Inaugural Caribbean Games gets underway in Guadeloupe

Decorated long and triple jumper, Chantoba Bright, was Guyana’s flag bearer during Wednesday night’s opening ceremony of the Caribbean Games

The historic inaugural Caribbean Games got underway on Wednesday night following a party full of music and colour in Guadeloupe.

More than 800 athletes from 29 countries – Guyana included – were represented in front of sport leaders and fans during the athletes’ parade. The competitions officially began yesterday.

One by one, all the Caribbean countries paraded in front of the fans highlighted by their flag bearers and the unmistakable joy and celebrations of their teammates.
