Although still in shock, his relatives believed that if prompt actions were taken by doctors the boy, Jeff Boyan, may still be alive.

Boyan was the youngest child for his parents. His mother, Jennifer Richards, related that the child was stung about 21:00 hours on Thursday.

The mother of five said that she immediately contacted the local doctor who told her to “observe” the child.

The mother said the doctor asked her to check to see if the boy’s body was undergoing any changes.

The mother said her son started to vomit blood and they rushed him to Wakapoa Health Centre, which is located almost a mile away from their home. She said they had to paddle their way to the health centre and she was praying for her son until she reached.

The mother said when they reached the Health Centre, the female doctor told her to take the child to Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity. The family then began their journey on the 75hp boat with bad lighting.

“We reach out like 6 that morning and we took him to Charity for attention,” Richards related.

She said that doctors immediately transferred her son to Suddie Public Hospital, where he succumbed. The mother said that her son was crying and begging her to stay. She said she cannot come to grips on how her son lost his life.

The lad’s body is at the Suddie Funeral home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
