Hakeem Mohamed was yesterday sworn in to serve on the Police Service Commission

Hakeem Mohamed was yesterday sworn in to serve on the Police Service Commission. With Mohamed’s appointment, the Commission is now fully reconstituted, although a lawsuit has since been filed challenging the appointment of its Chairman. Back in May, President Irfaan Ali appointed Patrick Findlay, Mark Conway, and Ernesto Choo-a-Fat to the Commission. Findlay is Chairman. In challenging the appointment by way of a new court filing, Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton has argued that Ali appointed Findlay as Chairman of the PSC without first meaningfully consulting him as is required by Article 210 (1) (a) of the Constitution.
