A security guard was on June 29th remanded to prison on a charge of attempted murder.
Makendi Barrow, 35, of Lot 11 D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The indictable charge states that Barrow, on June 26th, 2022, at D’Urban Street, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Trayon Thomas with intent to murder him.
Barrow, was not required to plead and was remanded until July 28.
According to the facts presented in court, Barrow and Thomas are known to each other, and on the day in question, at about 11:30hrs, the men were on D’Urban Street, between Cemetery Road and Hardina Street.
It was said that the men had an old grievance and on the day in question they were involved in a conversation when the issue was brought up. As a result of the conversation, the virtual complainant suddenly slapped Barrow, which led to Barrow pulling out a pair of scissors from his waist and stabbing the complainant in the left side of his chest.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police who apprehended Barrow shortly after. He was then told of the offence, cautioned and charged.
