A 22-year-old fisherman died on Monday in an accident at Success, East Coast Demerara.
According to police, Ajay Ali, of Unity, Mahaica, died after he was hit by a car driven by Kumar Persaud, 46, of Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara. Reports are that Ali was attempting to cross the road when he was hit.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Police said that a Breathalyzer test conducted on the driver revealed no trace of alcohol. Persaud was taken into custody for further questioning.
