Blackpool FC of New York, which was formed in 1971 by former Guyanese footballers who had migrated to the USA in the late 1960/70s, will host a luncheon for former local footballers on Saturday at the TT Marshall Cottages in Anira Street, Queenstown.
This was disclosed by an official release from the entity. According to the correspondence, “Blackpool FC will use this event as a forerunner for regular interaction with their local counterparts of yesteryear. At this inaugural event, discussions will be held on the way forward as the overseas based organization is desirous of seeing how they could assist former local players in whatever way possible. At present some assistance is given to former national and iconic goalkeeper Birdette Marshall, who is blind, whilst former national defensive star Alvin ‘Geronimo’ Braithwaite, who played 14 stellar years for the country, has received assistance in the recent past.”
