In a rain-affected Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) U-19 two-day Inter-Association opener, West Demerara and East Bank played to a draw at the La Bonne Intention Cricket Facility.
East Bank won the toss and inserted West Demerara who were bowled out for 192 in 69.3 overs. East Bank then closed the opening day on 47 for six. On the final day, play was only possible until 16.00 hours, with East Bank reaching 85 for six after 45 overs.
Sachin Balgobin was the principal scorer for West Demerara, stroking two boundaries. He was left stranded on 49 not out from 131 balls.
Balgobin added 80 runs for the fifth wicket with Vishal Persaud who made 34 from 101 balls. Extras made up 34 while Nicholas Rajpat chipped in with 22 runs.
Joash Charles was the most impactful bowler for East Bank, taking 4-35 while Anthony Lim and Krsna Singh supported with two wickets each.
In East Bank’s innings, Lim finished on 33 not out after hitting three boundaries. Lim was joined by Sookdeo Ramnauth (seven not out) to share an unbroken partnership of 41 for the seventh wicket. Earlier, Alex Leal struck two fours before he was dismissed for 18.
Nityanand Mathura and Balgobin each ended with 3-22.
