Opportunities are available for young Guyanese to explore their Indian roots via a sponsored trip to the Indian sub-continent compliments of the Indian government.
The High Commission of India announced on Tuesday that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India (GOI) is organising three Know India Programmes (KIPs) from August to November, 2022.
The KIP is a flagship initiative of the GOI which familiarises youths of Indian origin between 18 and 30 years with their Indian roots and contemporary India, through a 25-day orientation programme in India.
According to the High Commission, the upcoming KIPs are as follows: 60th KIP Edition – August 25, 2022 to September 14, 2022 in Goa; 61st KIP Edition – September 26, 2022 to October 16, 2022 in Gujarat; and 62nd KIP Edition – November 01, 2022 to November 21, 2022 in Rajasthan.
Persons desirous of attending any of the KIPs must submit a printed and signed Application and Annexure Form, along with 2 recent passport-size photographs to the High Commission of India at the undermentioned address not later than: 18th July, for 60th KIP; 18th August, for the 61st KIP; and 22nd October for the 62nd KIP. Applications are to be filled online at http://kip.gov.in/home/register.
The High Commission also informed that the Government of India will bear complete expenditure for boarding, lodging, gratis visa, and 90 per cent of the economy class return air-ticket to the participants.
