Demerara all-rounder, Alvin Mohabir will lead Guyana at the upcoming Regional Under-17 tournament to be played in Trinidad and Tobago from July 17 to 28.
The 14-man team was recently disclosed by the Guyana Cricket Board following the conclusion of the Inter-County tournament where Mohabir led Demerara to an undefeated championship acquisition.
Mohabir, who plays locally for Transport Sports Club finished as the leading bowler in the tournament, taking 11 wickets while finishing the second leading run getter with 83 runs.
The tournament’s leading batsman, Jonathan Van Lange, who scored 104 runs, is also included.
Demerara’s Nityanand Mathura and Essequibo’s Gulcharran Chulai also finished with six wickets each and earned spots in the squad.
The experienced trio, Mavindra Dindyal, Rampertab Ramnauth and Zachary Jodah were listed while West Indies under-19 seamer, Isai Thorne has been ruled out due to an injury. Ramnauth will serve as Mohabir’s deputy.
The batting line up will be complemented by Romeo Deonarain, Anthony Khan, Jadon Campbell and Kevin Kisten while the bowling department will be supported by Bruce Vincent, Dillon Ramsaroop and Sasenarine Harricahrran.
GCB also listed seven standbys namely, Thaddius Lovell, Shiloh Adams, Sanjay Algoo, Jayden Dowlin, Krsna Singh, Shazzif Mohamed and Nyron Hick.
The team will be under the guidance of Coach Garvin Nedd and manager Neil Rudder.
The squad is currently encamped at the La Bonne Intention facility.
