Fruta Conquerors and Santos fashioned contrasting wins when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Women’s Developmental League continued on Saturday at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
Fruta Conquerors crushed Potaro Strikers 10-1. Sandra Johnson led the way with a hat-trick in the 13th, 59th, and 50th minutes. Adding doubles were Jessica Teasdale in the 11th and 41st minute and Nikisa Wayne in the 12th and 58th minute.
Supporting were Shennel Daniels, Shanic Thornhill, and Nikasi St. Jules in the 10th, 24th, and 82nd minutes respectively. On target in the loss was Jonell Pollard in the 46th minute.
Meanwhile, Santos edged Bartica All-Stars 2-1. Ohara O’Selmo gave the home side the lead in the 30th minute via the penalty mark. Santos then incurred two red cards in the 30th and 35th minute respectively by Afena Baptiste and Akeelah Vancooten.
Nevertheless, Otalia Thompson scored in the 51st minute to equalise for Santos. Rayanna Harris then found the back of the net in the 64th minute to seal the win for the Georgetown unit.
Over at the National Training Centre, Providence, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) outflanked Orealla Falcons 4-0. Abiose Heywood netted a hat-trick, with Anastasia Horsham recording the other conversion.
Also, New Amsterdam United and Coomacka United of Linden played to a 1-1 stalemate. Sasha Loo gave the Berbicians the lead in the 18th minute, while Jade Simmons equalised for the Lindeners one minute later.
At the St. Cuthbert’s Mission ground, Pakuri Jaguars mauled Essequibo All-Stars 7-0. The tournament is supported by the Danish Football Union (DBU) and UEFA Assist.
