Chandrapaul Hemraj smashed a record 130 in the Atlantic Conference of the Minor League Cricket in the USA as New Jersey Somerset Cavaliers defeated Empire State Titans by 73 runs earlier this week.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Somerset Cavaliers piled on a mammoth 233 for four in 20 overs while containing Titans to 160 for nine by the time their overs expired.
Hemraj was on the ball from the get-go hitting a record 16 sixes and one four during his 54-ball innings before being trapped leg before wicket to Towhdul Islam (1-42). The left-hander, who will turn out for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League, shared a 160-run opening partnership with Abhishek Prabhu who anchored the innings with a ball-a-run 42, featuring two sixes and one four.
Prabhu was joined by Xavier Marshall and added 47 for the second wicket with Marshall scoring a blistering 18-ball 41. His innings was highlighted by four sixes and one four. Umaid Asif chipped in with 15 from six balls. Ariful Haque picked up 2-49.
The chase was curtailed by Imrul Hashib who bagged 3-32 with support coming from Najaf Shaf and Asif with two wickets each for 21 and 33 runs respectively.
Gauranshu Sharma top scored with 42 from 25 balls. His knock included five fours and two sixes. Usman Ashraf joined Sharma when Savan Patel was dismissed off the second ball of the innings and added 78 for the second wicket.
Ashraf hammered two sixes and five fours during a quickfire 42 which came from 25 balls. Haque made 39 from 20 but no other batsman could get them over the line as Titans scored 17 runs in their last five overs.
