Richie Looknauth played a calculated innings for Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) in the ongoing LAX Network Queens Dunkin 40-over competition but despite his efforts, Richmond Hill Liberty scampered to a seven-run win over the weekend.
In pursuit of 272, MMZ reached 264 all out in 39.4 overs with Looknauth hitting three sixes and six fours during his 73-ball top score of 82.
The former Guyana youth player shared a 73-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Chris Shewprashad who fell one run short of a vital half-century. He struck three sixes and three fours during his 59-ball knock.
Local boy and Looknauth’s Everest Cricket Club teammate, Ushardeva Balgobin also got among the runs, hitting eight boundaries to give MMZ a solid start with 44 from 31 balls. Looknauth Chinkoo (27), Keith Edie (15) and Ronaldo Renee (14) also had cameos but they were not enough.
Altaaf Habibulla was the pick of the bowlers with 4-30 while Samuel Raghubir and Jamiel Jackman bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, Jackman, who batted at number 10 in the 11-man line up top scored with 64 not out from 53 balls, with three fours and three sixes. He added 99 for the ninth wicket with Tegana McKenzie who clubbed four sixes and five fours on his way to a 41-ball 52. Keron Sewnarine (36) and Trevor Henry (35) complemented the total while extras also propped up the score with 30.
Andy Mohammed was the most potent bowler with 4-49 coming in 7.5 overs. Balgobin returned 2-55.
