Recht-Door-Zee labourer fatally stabbed

A 19-year-old construction worker was on Wednesday afternoon fatally stabbed during a scuffle at Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and the police have since arrested his alleged attacker.

Dead is Chrisgaichan Narine called ‘Boyo’ of Lot 137 Recht-Door-Zee, WBD.

The incident occurred around 16.50hrs at Independence Drive in the vicinity of Third Avenue, Parfaite Harmonie, WBD.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon.

Police said ranks acting on information received went to Westminster, WBD where the suspect was arrested and placed into police custody.

According to the police, enquiries revealed that Narine and his uncle were riding home on a bicycle while the suspect was coming from the opposite direction on an electrical bike.

The suspect approached Narine and his uncle and launched an attack on Narine, the police said.

Narine’s uncle ran away leaving him and the suspect scuffling.

“As the uncle was running away, he turned around and saw the suspect was armed with an orange handle pair of scissors in his right hand,” police explained.

He allegedly stabbed Narine twice and escaped.

The uncle then picked up his bicycle in an attempt to take Narine to the police station but he collapsed on the road.

Narine was rushed subsequently rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed.
