Dear Editor,
The fascinating ad by Princess Casino for young ‘Latino’ nationals in Stabroek News seems to have drawn the attention of the Ministry of Labour
Does Stabroek News not check the advertisements which they place in the newspapers for discrimination and other illegal content? Are there any guidelines as to when the Advertising team says this is nonsense and should not be placed? We see in other media surprising advertisements which discriminate on the basis of gender, sex, religion, ethnicity, nationality. In 2022, in the dysfunctional world with evolving role of media etc, don’t the ethical guidelines for journalism also apply to the advertisements which fund the journalism?
Yours sincerely,
Vidyaratha Kissoon
