Dear Editor,
Some must wonder how the Accounting Fraternity in Guyana is reacting to the persistently spontaneous splurge of financial disbursements being ‘granted’ by the President and colleagues these past months. More particularly they must wonder how bemused, if not confused, is the Office of the Auditor General. Where, when and how will the latter be able to ‘contract’ qualified staff to (amongst others):
i. identify the various systems, in any of voluntary financial support exercises
ii. to ascertain the number of payments that should be receipted by the payees, for confirmation of reliable accountability
iii. enquire why there is no budget for the Office of the Vice-President
iv. ascertain what records are kept of those ‘Temporary Workers’ paid monthly for 10 days for ‘many, many years’ as publicly proclaimed by the Vice-President in Region 6.
v. Confirm who would have audited the records of ‘grants’ to temporary non-working employees of Uitvlugt Estate.
Yours faithfully,
(Name and address supplied)
