The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) continued its dominance of the Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Inter-Association Under-19 100 overs tournament after beating East Bank by 70 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, GCA piled up 209 from 55 overs. They then limited East Bank to 139 for eight by the time their 45-over quota expired.
Georgetown Cricket Club’s Rivaldo Phillips top scored with 72 from 99 balls. His innings featured seven boundaries and he shared a 62-run stand for the seventh wicket with Riyad Latif who made 22 from 54 balls. Shamar Yearwood missed out on a half century after hitting three sixes and four boundaries during his 67-ball 47 before he was trapped leg before wicket by Deon Diene.
Yearwood had put on 52 for the second wicket with Myhiem Khan (26) but that came to an end when Khan was trapped leg before wicket to Krsna Singh. Singh also removed skipper, Ezekiel Wilson, in the same 19th over for a four-ball duck to end with 2-41. Extras accounted for 23 towards the target.
Anthony Lim provided resistance for East Bank, taking 4-32. Deonarine Dindyal also got among the wickets, returning 2-28.
Lim returned, this time with bat in hand to frustrate Georgetown by hitting nine sixes in a blistering 45-ball 68 before Khan removed him. Apart from Dindyal’s 76-ball 32 and Dravid Manohar’s 16, no other batsman reached double figures.
Latif grabbed 4-41 while Kelvin Gordon picked up 2-11.
