Aliyah Abrams failed in her quest to create history at the World Athletics Championships after she was eliminated from the women’s 400 metres in hot sultry conditions at Hayward Filed last evening.
Abrams, the national record holder, finished sixth in her semifinal, clocking an underwhelming 51.79 seconds, her slowest time this season so far and will have wait to become the first Guyanese woman to reach the finals of the competition. But she shed no excuses.
“I was having a good season and this was one of those days when things didn’t go right,” she explained.
