Dear Editor,
Team Guyana has just jetted off to participate at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England and the entire nation should be behind them.
Being selected is not an overnight process and these athletes would have been going through the rounds of training and preparation over the years. It does give me the chills whenever Team Guyana is seen during the Parade of Nations during the Opening Ceremonies of these International Sports events.
Though I was not present during the British Guiana era, it gives me great pleasure and honour to acknowledge the past sports ambassadors who represented British Guiana (now Guyana) namely Edwin Solomon, Toney Seth and George De Peana
I now attach a magazine photo from my small collection of historic memorabilia of 1958 which featured a few athletes in training and the parade of nations when the Duke of Edinburgh took the salute. I hope it would be considered for publishing in order for the general public to have a glimpse of the then British Guianese athletes and the opening ceremony.
Yours sincerely,
