Queensway donates $500,000 to Chess Olympiad team

The national chess team received a donation of $500,000 to attend this year’s Chess Olympaid in Chennai, India.

Queensway Group of Companies has donated half a million dollars to the national chess team set to compete in this year’s FIDE Chess Olympiad hosted in Chennai, India.

Nearly 200 countries are set to compete in the 44th edition of this biennial event which gets underway tomorrow and ends August 10th.

The ten-member team that will represent Guyana includes Guyana’s youngest ever National Women’s Champion, 14-year-old Pooja Lam as well as former Women’s 2020 Champion Sasha Shariff.
