Dear Editor,
I wish to add my voice to the call for an international investigation into corruption allegations involving the Vice President of Guyana, Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo by the Leader of the Opposition and the PNC-R Guyana, Mr. Aubrey Norton, and the formal investigation by an internationally recognised affiliate, consistent with the application of the rule of law.
I lived in Guyana for more than 4 decades and played an important role in the fight for Guyana’s freedom from dictatorship from the PNC-R Guyana under the leadership of the late dictator, Mr. Forbes Burnham.
I also wish to endorse the information covered here by the reporter of Vice News by Michael Learmont, Editor In chief and the reporter Isobel Yeung of Vice News as consistent with what I have lived and experienced in Guyana and doing business in Guyana.
The spectre of corruption goes beyond the People’s Progressive Party/Civic to the PNC-R Guyana as there is an absence of democratic institutions of Guyana with regard to its law enforcement agencies, the courts and the country’s legal system, the taxation body of the Guyana Revenue Authority and the government’s control of more than seventy percent of the nation’s most important institutions.
Sincerely,
Kris Kooblall
