Repaired trail: Emergency works on the collapsed section of the Mabura Trail, which connects Linden and Lethem, were quickly completed last week. Contractor Blackrock Development executed the works. The contractor has been able to lay two corrugated tubes (see inset) to steer the water flow in a particular direction to prevent any future erosion and collapse. Backfilling and resurfacing works were also carried out. Stabroek News understands that with major backfilling works done, drivers of heavy laden vehicles now have a sturdier pathway to traverse. This section of the road is routinely maintained by the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission. Following the collapse on Tuesday in the vincinity of Surama, vehicular traffic was unable to move for some hours. However, a section of the road was backfilled, opening a part of the trail to traffic.
