Gold is Money, Tiger Bay, and East Front Road secured their berths to the next round, when the ‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Futsal Championship kicked off on Saturday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Gold is Money overcame Campbellville 3-2. Hubert Pedro fashioned a brace in the 15thand 19th minute, while Michael Pedro netted in the 26th minute. For Campbellville, Domini Garnett, and Dennis Edwards made their presence felt in the sixth and 11th minute apiece.
On the other hand, Tiger Bay downed Good Over Evil 2-0. Orin Moore, and Jeffrey Newton scored in the seventh and 20th minute respectively. East Front Road defeated Upsetters 3-1. Meshach Barratt and Bevney McGarrell converted in the sixth and 23rd minute each, while an own goal added to the score in the 25th minute.
For the loser, Jevon Tappin netted in the 20th minute. In other results, Vengy edged Festival City 5-4. Johennis Mendonza, Oswaldo Gil, JoseVasquez, Alberto Hernandes, and Andre Hines etched their name on the scorer’s sheet in the 11th, 13th, 16th, 17thand 19th minute correspondingly. On the other side, Leon Sealey recorded a hat-trick in the third, sixth, and seventh minute, whilst an own goal added to the score in the 21st minute. Also, Pike Street Sophia battled past Alexander Village 3-1.
Ranil Adams, Gregory Jones, and Lionel Holder scored in the ninth, 11th and 20thminute apiece. For the loser, Leon Yaw scored in the seventh minute. The event continues at the same venue on the sixth. The other playing dates are August13, and 20 at the National Gymnasium, with the final pencilled for the 27th at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The competition, which will utilise an elimination format, will feature 32 teams.
