Contending that table-ready sugar is being produced at all three estates, the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) yesterday said there is no shortage of the sweetener in the country.
In an advertisement in the Stabroek News, GuySuCo said that as of July 21st, the New Guyana Marketing Corporation has been selling packaged sugar directly to final consumers at $150 per pound and $140 per pound for loose sugar in a bid to prevent profiteering by unscrupulous parties.
As of July 28, GuySuCo said that there was over two weeks’ supply of 50 kg bagged sugar and 2 kg packaged sugar in stock at all three grinding estates.
