The Ministry of Public Works yesterday advised the general public that the MV Malali is currently out of service.
A press release from the ministry stated that the vessel, which operates the Parika/Wakenaam and Parika/Leguan routes, will be out of service until further notice. This is as a result of the vessel experiencing technical difficulties.
The ministry further said that technicians are currently working to rectify the situation. In the interim, the Transport and Harbours Department will implement alternative arrangements to maintain its services to passengers. The ministry apologized for any inconvenience caused.
On Saturday, commuters had criticised a plan to have the Malali on standby while one of the ferries plying the Parika-Supenaam route was down. Commuters had been told that the Malali was scheduled to undertake a boat cruise yesterday. It is unclear what transpired with the cruise.
