Algeria’s non-resident envoy accredited

President Irfaan Ali yesterday accepted Letters of Credence from the Non-Resident Ambassador-designate Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Algeria to Guyana, Abdelkader Hadjazi, at the Office of the President.

A release from the Office of the President said that Ali gave an overview of the Government’s development agenda, including the drive to diversify the economy and the efforts to combat climate change through the Low Carbon Development Strategy.

“We welcome discussions in areas in which we can collaborate and cooperate”, he said.

The newly accredited diplomat assured of his country’s renewed emphasis on expanding relations in all areas, including oil and gas. Algeria is a major oil and gas producer in Africa and has been a key member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
